Rune tattoo

Dann zeigt sich´s recht
wenn du nach Runen fragst,
den raterentsproßnen,
wie sie wirkten Waltmächte
und sie zog der Zauberherr
wer Verstand hat, bleibt stumm.

(Edda translation Felix Genzmer 1920)

It's not about the hair....

I know, it's a stupid haircut, but I'm so not a hairdresser and don't even charge extra for shaving, so what can one expect ;)?

Roman horse head swastika

The design is inspired by late roman plate brooches, used in the roman military around 4th - 5th century (picture of original above)
The bearer is a canadian citizen and decided to have the symbol in memory of his ancestors from the fathers side, wich came from Italy (stars on the side not my work)

Sun Tattoo

Sometimes the world needs some colour ;)

Deers & Birds

The deer "the king of the forest" as the germans call it, a very dominant spirit and totem animal, important for a lot of tribes through the ages, the earliest pictures of shamans show them with deer antlers on their head.
The sun wheel pattern symbolizes the strenght of the deer.

Do I really have to mention, that these tattoos don´t have a political background...?

Entirely handmade, pieces like that take a day each to produce.
Why do the tattoos have different tones of black?
The bird on the left shoulder is two years old when the picture is taken, the bird on the right shoulder two  days, deer on the left one day, the bird on the right two hours.
What happen is that especially the handmade pieces need a day to "arrive", meaning the dots are darker the day after. Then they bleach again a little within the next weeks, when the new skin grows over it.

Scythian Pazyryk Ice Mummy Tattoo

...The full design of the Ice Mummy tattoo reconstruction. Again Thanks´n´greetings to you, Hampus :)
The background is a reconstruction of the Hylestad Stavechurch gate, lend out with friendly permission of Viking Kristall :)

The process: The tool used here is an antique tusk from thailand, an ancient style of tattooing.
Because there is no evidence of scythian tattoo tools, we had to use other old techniques from the same period or older from different cultures, so the lines are done with a single small stick, like we know from the stone age, the filling is done partly with the tusk, partly tapped, like we know it from the polynesian cultures.

Scythian Pazyryk Ice Mummy Tattoo

The original Pazyryk Tattoo Mummy

Saga with the scythian tattoo
We did it! After three days of hard work you can see the result here. The tattoo is based on a design, found on a mummy from the Pazyryk Area, Altai republic in 1995.
The typical scythian tattoo was meant as a reconstruction, so we used tools, that we considered to be known by that time (ca 500 BC)
There will be more pictures soon, showing the whole design

The Gudvangen works

The design we ´re tapping here is the same like the embroidery on the back of the "victims" shirt wich is the logo of his company, designed by the man himself  in the old swedish urnes style (thanks for stretching, Yngvil :-)
You think, this is a beautiful place? It s even more beautiful than any picture can tell........
